A short history of development
- Created by a CAPE grant received by the Community Foundation Alliance,
Inc. - an umbrella organization for nine county community foundations
in Southwest Indiana
- Board of Directors formed in May 2001
- Executive Director hired in May 2001
- Incorporated in July 2001
- Other nine employees hired by October 2001

Began operation in May 2001
Mission
SINE will enhance the culture for education within the nine counties
of Southwest Indiana by providing training, materials, and human resources
to promote a lifelong love of learning.

Present program includes
- Workshops for K-6 teachers and administrators on the Four Blocks teaching
methodology
- Workshops for K-12 teachers and administrators on Dr. Ruby Payne's
research that helps identify and explain the barriers to education in
poverty cultures
- The Learning Exchange - a program that places middle school teachers
in the workplace for one week summer internship. Teachers then develop
classroom lesson plans that incorporate their real-world work experiences
- National School Improvement, Inc. will work with schools to change
the school culture to become better education providers.
- Creating in each of the nine counties, a County Adult Literacy Committee
to create county-wide plans for delivery of adult literacy instruction.
SINE will provide initial funding.
- Approving and funding a Professional Development Training Plan in
each of the public school districts, the Diocese of Evansville schools
and any other private accredited schools.
- SINEOnline.com is created to be used as a communications tool for
educators, businesses, and the communities.
The future
As we become more familiar with the needs of our communities, SINCE will
incorporate more programs keeping within our mission of enhancing the
culture for learning in Southwest Indiana.
