Mary Kay Smith, Executive Director, SINE

Mary K. will oversee all aspects of the development and implementation of the programs offered by SINE throughout the nine-county area. As well, she will spearhead efforts to communicate SINE's message to schools, businesses, government, and the general public.

With 34 years in the banking industry in Tell City, IN and extensive management experience, Mary K. retired as Vice President and Trust Officer. She is Chairman of the Board for Perry County Memorial Hospital, Member and Secretary of the Tell City Economic Development Commission, and on the Board of Trustees of the Evansville-based Mission and Ministry, Inc. A native Hoosier, Mary K. lives in Tell City. She is a voracious reader, like all of SINE's staff, and enjoys golfing, traveling, baking, and candy making.

G.W. "Monty" Montgomery, Professional Development Coordinator, SINE

Monty's duties include organizing workshops in three areas: in school literacy, poverty and the classroom, and general staff development. As well, he will develop guidelines for Requests for Proposals to fund projects within these areas and monitor grant compliance.

A former teacher, high school principal, and Indiana school district superintendent, Monty holds a D.Ed. in Educational Administration from Indiana University. While superintendent, his school district won national awards for teacher development. A native Hoosier, he lives in Evansville and is married with two grown children and two grandchildren. A voracious reader, like all of SINE's staff, he enjoys gardening and also forest management on his small farm.

Mo Cato, Business Education/Adult Learning Coordinator, SINE

Mo's duties include working with businesses and organizations to help develop or expand Adult Literacy programs. These programs, designed to complement existing efforts, will be provided at no charge to businesses, organizations, and communities. Offerings may include expanded GED programs, "from the ground up" literacy programs, or English as a Second Language training sites.

A graduate of the University of Southern Indiana, Mo also holds a Master's of Science degree in Corporate Communications from Western Kentucky University in addition to a business background, his experience includes managing a "school-to-work" project for the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation for 4 years. An Indiana resident for 21 years, he lives in Evansville where he has been heavily involved in activities promoting the welfare of the community. Mo has served on the Board of Directors for numerous community agencies. His spare time is taken up by playing tennis as well as coaching and playing soccer. He is a former Golden Gloves boxer.

Kevin L. Chattin, Technology Coordinator, SINE

Kevin's duties will include building a network where SINE's mobile employees, who work out of their homes, can exchange email and files. In addition, he will provide technical support as needed to school districts within the area served by SINE. One of his principal duties will be the construction and maintenance of SINE's Internet information portal, www.SINEonline.com, designed to facilitate the exchange of information between SINE, educators, and the public.

A graduate of ITT Technical Institute, Kevin's background includes information technology networking for Edward Jones, Ralston Purina, and most recently, Kimball International in Jasper, Indiana. A native Hoosier, he lives in Washington, Indiana, with his wife, Lisa, their son, and two daughters. Like all SINE's staff, he is a voracious reader but also finds time for bowling, hunting, and fishing.
