Indiana Virtual Academy
The Indiana Virtual Academy (IndVA) is currently offering high school level courses online as well as an SAT/PSAT/ACT Test Prep (available immediately upon registeration and payment until April 2006) and AP Exam Review (available March 1 until the Exam). The Indiana Virtual Academy was formerly known as The Ripley County Learning Network. The Ripley County Learning Network (RCLN) is an initiative of the Ripley County Community Foundation enabled through a Community Alliances to Promote Education (CAPE) grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. It was established to achieve a “virtual consolidation” of Ripley County’s four school corporations as well as the Career Center in the county. As a result of the RCLN success, the Indiana Virtual Academy has now opened the “virtual doors” to all Indiana students and schools. Do IndVA courses meet Indiana standards? All IndVA courses meet Indiana Standards. Courses are periodically reviewed to be sure they are current to standards. The IndVA uses only Indiana licensed teachers. Needed for Admission The Academy is not a credit granting organization so it is required that we obtain approval from your school guidance counselor prior to your beginning a course. This is to ensure that your home school will not only grant you the credit for completing the course, but also ensure that you have completed all prerequisite courses. This will also ensure that you are not working on a course that will not meet your needs and graduation requirements. If you are a homeschooled student or aren’t seeking high school credit for the course you will be able to inform the Academy of this on the registration form on our website. Registration To register for one of the IndVA online courses please visit: The Academy currently has 3 sessions per year, Fall, Spring and Summer. Please check the website for up to date information on semester start and end dates. Typical Costs Courses are available at a cost of $275.00 for students within Ripley County and $295.00 for a student outside of Ripley County. Very few IndVA courses require an ancillary material, but if your course does require that you purchase a textbook etc., it will be noted in the course description with ICN or on the IndVA website. The SAT Test Prep is $75.00 for those outside of Ripley County with students from Ripley County recieveing a $25.00 scholarship. The AP Exam Review has a cost of $30.00. A payment plan is available by contacting the RCLN office.
