Instructor provides personal perspective in online Alzheimer’s course  
Having cared for three family members with Alzheimer’s disease, Professor Martha Sparks from the University of Southern Indiana will share her personal perspective on caring for people with the disease in a new course this spring called Assessment and Management of Alzheimer’s Disease (GERO319). This three-credit course deals with assessing the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, knowing what to expect from the disease, and managing and dealing with the disease’s symptoms. The goal of the course, which is open to students of all majors, is to help people better understand the symptoms of Alzheimer’s, and therefore deal better with the disease.

Alzheimer's disease certificate program welcomes family caregivers
The University of Southern Indiana is now offering an online Alzheimer's Disease Certificate Program. This 40-hour continuing education program focuses on assessment and management of Alzheimer's Disease from diagnosis until death. Participants will learn from experts in the field of Alzheimer's and have the opportunity to network with other course participants across the country.

Developed for practicing nurses, social workers, and other English-speaking health care professionals, the program is also open to family caregivers and others interested in the disease. The Alzheimer's Disease Certificate Program is six-weeks in length and will be offered three times a year (January 23, April 17, and August 21).

IPFW debuts online media internship
Media Internship is the first and only online internship class available at IPFW. Students explore and practice emerging electronic journalism and media skills applicable in a variety of workplace settings. The course includes both theory and application, leading to an internship project that produces a proposal, a design, and a draft working version of a useful electronic communications tool. This class may be repeated, but students may not exceed more than 3 hours of internship credit for the B.A.. Permission to enroll is required.

BSU fast-track courses now online in 10-week format
The Ball State University Independent Learning Program now offers fast-track courses online in both nine-month and 10-week formats. Fast-track courses allow students to enroll at anytime during the year, and are intended for students who are disciplined, organized, and dedicated to meeting deadlines. An Associate of Arts in General Arts and a Bachelor of General Studies are offered through the program. Students must be admitted to one of these programs to enroll in fast-track courses.    

IPFW now offering online minors in journalism and public relations
IPFW is now offering minors in journalism and public relations, which may be completed totally online. Courses include Writing for Mass Media, Introduction to Public Relations, Editorial Practices, Feature Writing, Public Relations in a Democratic Society, and Media Internship. ICN students who are interested in the Public Relations or Journalism minors should work through their Home Institution academic advisors.
