A.S. in Human Services prepares students for careers in caring Ivy Tech State College Sellersburg is now offering an Associate Degree in Human Services. This 62-credit program provides students with the broad understanding needed to help others meet their psychological, social, and environmental needs. Graduates can become human services generalists or a specialist in the areas of substance abuse, gerontology, criminal justice, or mental health. Crime scene procedures explained in new online forensics courseIf you are fascinated by CSI, Forensic Files, or Cold Case, this course may be for you. “Introduction to Forensic Science” was designed to provide students with the basic procedures and concepts related to forensic sciences and crime scene investigation. Topics include ballistic and tool mark analysis, arson and explosive investigation, computer and cyber crimes, entomological evidence and the time since death, trace evidence, forensic pathology, toxicology, blood spatter, bio-terrorism, and criminal behavior analysis. A variety of guest speakers will add their expertise to the reading material. Graduate course features developments in curriculum theory/practiceIndiana State University is now accepting registrations for spring 2005 for ELED 645: Early Childhood: Advanced Curriculum. This 3-credit course examines the needs of young children and the basic principles underlying curriculum planning. Significant new developments in curriculum theory and practice will be considered. Originality in curriculum design and guided teaching experiences will be stressed. New online course focuses on nutrition for domestic animals Animal Nutrition, a new online course from Purdue University, deals with classification and function of nutrients, deficiency symptoms, digestive processes, characterization of feedstuffs, and formulation of diets for domestic animals. Principles apply to mammalian and avian species. The course is an appropriate stand-alone course for those interested in one course in animal nutrition. It also meets prerequisites for other nutrition courses in the Department of Animal Sciences and entrance requirements for the Purdue School of Veterinary Medicine. Financial aid is available to students studying at a distance. As with on-campus students, it can be used to cover the cost of college attendance, including tuition, fees, room and board, books, supplies, transportation, computers, and other personal expenses related to education.
To qualify for federal, state, and/or institutional aid, you must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen admitted to a degree or certificate program at a qualified college or university. For most awards, you must be enrolled at least half time (some aid is limited to full-time students), and your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be received by the U.S. Department of Education by March 10 each year that you want to be considered for aid.
For the 2005-06 academic year (July 1, 2005-June 30, 2006) you must file the 2005-06 FAFSA. Income information for 2004 will be required.
NOTE: The 2004-05 FAFSA Online Application will be available mid-December 2004.
