Tax accounting helps you file your return
A new online course in personal tax accounting is now available from Vincennes University. ACCT 255: Income Tax Accounting focuses on income, exclusions from income, deductions, and credits for individuals filing their own return. It is offered both on a semester basis (spring 2005) and through open enrollment. A prerequisite of ACCT 201 is required.

LPN to BSN program offers flexible pathway to nursing degree
Indiana State University is now offering an online LPN to BSN Program. This three-year program consists of three phases: Phase I: General Education; Phase II: Nursing Prerequisites; and Phase III: Baccalaureate Nursing Courses. All courses in the program—even clinical projects—can be completed in the student's local community via study guides and the Internet. On-campus visits are not required.

New cohort-based certificate in communications
Indiana Wesleyan University is now offering a new, cohort-based Certificate in Communications. Upon completion of the program, students will have developed proficiency in both written and oral communication. The certificate demonstrates the student's desire and determination to excel, and can serve as professional development in any career field. Registration for this 15-credit program ends November 8 for winter 2004 (classes begin November 18) and February 7 for spring 2005 (classes begin February 17).

New 15-credit certificate in religious studies
The Indiana Wesleyan University Certificate in Religious Studies provides a comprehensive overview of the Bible, its major themes, and the archaeological evidence supporting biblical truth. The certificate demonstrates the student's desire and determination to excel, and can serve as professional development toward a career or volunteer work in church and para-church ministries. Registration for this 15-credit program ends November 8 for winter 2004 (classes begin November 18) and February 7 for spring 2005 (classes begin February 17).

Alcohol/drug education emphasized in new criminal justice certificate
Providing a comprehensive overview of criminology, criminal justice, and the psychology of personality, the Indiana Wesleyan University Certificate in Criminal Justice provides specific emphasis in alcohol and drug education and corrections that can be of great benefit to people in social services, security management, many types of compassion ministry, and other professions and services. The certificate demonstrates the student's desire and determination to excel, and can provide a valuable competitive advantage in any career or profession. Registration for this cohort-based, 15-credit program ends November 8 for winter 2004 (classes begin November 18) and February 7 for spring 2005 (classes begin February 17).

 

Certificate in human services focuses on marriage/family issues
A comprehensive overview of sociology, cultural anthropology, and the psychology of personality is emphasized in the new, 15-credit, cohort-based Certificate in Human Services from Indiana Wesleyan University. The program focuses on current social problems and issues in marriage and the family that can be of great benefit to people in business, ministry, health care, community and social services. The certificate demonstrates the student's desire and determination to excel, and can provide a valuable competitive advantage in any career or profession. Registration ends November 8 for winter 2004 (classes begin November 18) and February 7 for spring 2005 (classes begin February 17).

Ivy Tech system-wide degree in early childhood education
The AAS in Early Childhood Education from Ivy Tech Sellersburg focuses on early childhood growth and development, including adult-child relationships. Emphasis is placed on the development of skills and techniques for providing appropriate environments and care for young children. Instruction is provided in the physical, emotional, social and cognitive areas of early childhood. The program is appropriate for candidates seeking the Child development Associate (CDA) credential. The program is offered through the Ivy Tech system-wide delivery, which means students will take classes from a variety of campuses to meet the degree requirements. A Technical Certificate is also available.

 

Computer as management tool is focus of new CIS program
Ivy Tech Sellersburg is offering a new program in Computer Information Systems. The program is user-oriented with an emphasis on microcomputer applications within a business environment. The Associate of Applied Science Degree will be awarded upon successful completion of 60 credit hours; a Technical Certificate requiring 30 credits is also available. The program also provides resources for those individuals who wish to pursue selected courses only, in conjunction with another program of study or for the purpose of job upgrading.

Roudebush VA Medical Center joins ICN
The Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis has become ICN's first Workplace Learning Center. Staff at the Indianapolis medical center now have access to the same support services offered by community and campus-based ICN Learning Centers—personal assistance, local access to equipment, and additional educational opportunities offered through the hospital's Training Department. Welcome aboard!
