Online criminal justice classes beign this summer
In a combined effort between Ivy Tech State College (ITSC)-Terre Haute and Indiana State University (ISU), six new criminal justice courses are being offered online this summer. These classes partially fulfill the requirements for the associate degree in Criminal Justice at ITSC. While 90 percent of the required classes will soon be available online, ITSC plans to offer the entire program online in the future. Students who complete the ITSC associate degree can continue into ISU’s B.S. completion program in Criminology, which is available online in its entirety.

The six courses offered this summer begin on May 19. They are:

  • CRJ 101: Introduction to Criminal Justice Systems
  • CRJ 103: Cultural Awareness
  • CRJ 105: Introduction to Criminology
  • CRJ 113: Criminal Investigation
  • CRJ 115: Criminalistics
  • CRJ 123: Juvenile Justice Systems

Certificate programs akin to mini master's degrees
Certificate programs are like mini master's degrees. They give you expertise in a specialized area or help you meet new job requirements. In many cases, you can use the certificate courses towards a master's degree if you later decide to pursue one. ICN promotes graduate certificate programs in Public Administration and Library/Media Services, both from Indiana State University.

Indiana State, Vincennes offer dual admission
Prospective college students considering a two-year college for the first phase of their higher education can ensure a smooth transition to a four-year school under a plan announced Friday by the presidents of Indiana State and Vincennes universities.

Beginning with applications for the fall 2003 term, students may apply for dual admission to both VU and Indiana State.

“Dual admission is a big step forward,” Vincennes University President Bryan Blanchard said. “Some of the more student friendly institutions in the country have been experimenting with dual admission.”

Fall registration is going on now
This fall, more than 1,800 courses and 130 degree and certificate programs are available to students studying at a distance. Nearly 70 percent of the classes are available online. Registration is going on now!

To become a distance education student with ICN institutions, there are three simple steps you need to take: (1) select a Home Institution, (2) complete the ICN Preregistration Form, and (3) indicate if you are degree seeking or not. Remember, you may complete up to 12 credit hours as a nondegree-seeking student before applying for formal admission as a degree-seeking student.
