Noncredit PU class prepares students for FAA air traffic control school
Continuing Education at Purdue University is offering a noncredit, online class to help you prepare to apply for admission to an FAA air traffic controller training program. Topics include air traffic control procedures, federal aviation regulations, aviation weather observation and reporting, principles of navigation, and the use and interpretation of aeronautical charts. Instructor approval is required for Purdue West Lafayette students.
Practice makes perfect in business writing course from Taylor
“Business and Technical Writing” from the Taylor University Center for Lifelong Learning will provide ample opportunities to practice a variety of writing required in business and industry. Offered via Open Enrollment, you may register and begin this four-credit, competency-based class at any time; however, you must complete it within six months.
Ivy Tech Lafayette adds four classes to spring schedule
- CRJ 101: Introduction to Criminal Justice—An introductory, three-credit-hour, online class covering the fundamental purposes, functions, and history of the three primary parts of the criminal justice system—law enforcement, courts, and corrections.
- LEG 106: Tort Law—Delivered via videoconference, this three-credit class examines the law of noncriminal injuries. Topics include negligence, strict liability, product liability, intentional torts, affirmative defenses, basic evidence law, and pretrial investigation techniques and resources.
- OAD 110: Presentation Graphics—A three-credit, online class providing hands-on experience with advanced design and layout techniques and practical applications of business presentations.
- SOC 261: Sociology of Relationships and the Family—Examine the sociological and psychological dynamics of dating, relationships, marriage, family life, and parenting in this three-credit, online class that introduces students to the major theoretical paradigms related to relationships.
Earn an associate degree in one year through accelerated VU program
Vincennes University is offering an accelerated associate degree program in General Studies that can be completed online in one year. Concentrations are available in general business and behavior sciences. Classes run for eight weeks and begin in January, March, May, July, August, and October. The program is rigorous and moves at an accelerated pace.
Emergency management is focus of PU veterinary homeland security class
This noncredit, graduate course from Purdue University Continuing Education presents introductory material on a variety of topics in veterinary homeland security, such as the threat and impact of agricultural bio terrorism, government roles in animal health emergencies, roles of veterinarians in community planning for animal health emergencies, roles of veterinarians during animal health emergencies, foreign animal diseases, zoonotic diseases, food-borne diseases, disease surveillance and early detection, radiological and chemical events, field epidemiology, geographical information systems, and bio-security for emergency responders. In addition, a laboratory module provides students with certification at the 100-level in Incident Command Training.
Explore a career in social work through an online class from Taylor
“Explorations in Social Work,” a three-credit, online class from the Taylor University Center for Lifelong Learning, will introduce you to the field of social work by exploring what social workers are, what they do, and the settings in which they work. A service-learning component will provide interaction with a variety of community-based agencies.
